Deceptacookies ATTTACCKKKK!!!!!!!!

Hey guys, I'm new!

I've never done any real fancy gingerbread creations before this year. In fact I've never done any real fancy baking before. I wanted to give it a whirl but I wasn't really in the Christmas mood ... so ... instead of Gingerbread Boys .... I made GingerBread bots. I suppose this counts as my first Transformer fanart. LOL.

Works been hectic and combined with the fact I've never done anything like this before...I think they turned out pretty good. Some got rushed and then the black food coloring I used to dye the frosting pretty much destroyed my Megatron Cookies. But they were fun to make, so no regrets. I just wanted to show them off. (and really I can't wait to bite Megatron's head off so it's no great loss, haha.)

At first I didn't know what to use as a cookie cutter. So instead I asked an artist on DeviantArt ( if I could use his pixels, he said as long as I credited him it was fine. So I blew up and traced his pixel artwork. I figured if it looks good at 100X100 pixels it couldn't be too hard to frost at 6inches. I cut the shapes by hand and went from there. For the most part I got 4 of each character, except Ratchet and ShockWave. I just kinda ran out of dough and ambition there.

I did: BumbleBee, Optimus Prime, Ratchet, IronHide, Megatron, StarScream, Soundwave, & Shockwave. Plus a set of small logos and a set of big logos.

Hi everyone!

My name's Emma, and I've just joined this community, it looks like so much fun! I can't wait to build my first gingerbread house this weekend! ^_^

I was just wondering what recipes you all used to make your houses? And how do you actually build them?? Are there any good websites you could point me to? I've made gingerbread men a few times, but it goes to more of a biscuit and I don't have the recipe any longer.

I'm sorry if this isn't allowed, but this looks like so much fun I really want to join in! =)

Hey guys. I just joined this community and I was wondering if anyone has good recipes for gingerbread and frosting. I know it's easy just to google it, but trust me, I've done that before and the results were less than what should suffice.

oh sooooo much work!!

this is only the second gingerbread house i worked on. the last one i made with my mother over 6 years ago. this one took over a week of solid work to complete.

the windows are butterscotch.

there are candy lights as well as real ones.

it was a long week, but it came out structurally sound, which is important. : )

Gingerbread Architecture Competition

I posted this in a comment earlier, but I'm gonna throw it out in its own post:

I once saw a magazine article (I'm talking over 15 years ago) in an architectural magazine (might have been a cooking magazine, but I strongly suspect it was actually in an architecture magazine) about a gingerbread house competition between architecture firms - some of that stuff was AMAZING. One firm developed a hard-candy sugar icing that was applied hot and hardened almost invisible, so they could put together their gingerbread structures with greater strength and without globs of white icing.

If anyone knows what magazine that was, or other info about the article, I'd like to know.

I just joined the community! I love working with gingerbread, I just wish I had more time to do it... ;)
I don't have any good pictures of the houses I've made this year, yet, but here's one I did last year:
